Almost exactly 5 years, to be accurate.<\/p>\n<p>In 2004, a friend of mine, Gernot, and I travelled about 4500 miles through the southeast. We started in Dallas, TX, went down to Clearwater, FL, up through the Blue Ridge Mountains and back to Dallas.<\/p>\n<p>I guess, the most remarkable memory concerning that trip is the fact, we <code>sank our rental car deeply in the swamp<\/code> of Florida. We had left highway 19, followed a small road, took a turn right onto an even smaller road right into the woods and finally got stuck.<\/p>\n<p>It was funny, even if was no fun at all \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thomasgericke.de\/v4\/interactive\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/florida.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-931 alignnone\" title=\"Where we got stuck in the swamp...\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thomasgericke.de\/v4\/interactive\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/florida.jpg\" alt=\"Where we got stuck in the swamp...\" width=\"542\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thomasgericke.de\/v4\/interactive\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/florida.jpg 903w, https:\/\/www.thomasgericke.de\/v4\/interactive\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/florida-300x271.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 542px) 100vw, 542px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This year, I will arrive at Miami International Airport late at night local time on Wednesday, 2009-02-18. I&#8217;ll fetch my rental car and the first task will be to look for a Motel. I don&#8217;t have definite plans, except that I&#8217;m really looking forward to take some breakfasts at various <code>Wafflehouses<\/code>, that I plan to take lots and lots of <code>pictures <\/code>and that I wanna make a trip to <code>Key West<\/code>.<\/p>\n<p>What I prepared so far:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I&#8217;ve checked my tickets<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ve checked my authorization to travel to the US<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ve washed and dried lots of cloths \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n<li>I searched and found my US power plug converter<\/li>\n<li>I searched and found a huge map of Florida<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I will keep you up to date \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi there!
